STARTING YOUR MODULAR KITCHEN DESIGN PROCESS
Starting the project of designing a modular kitchen is exciting but can also feel a bit overwhelming. A great kitchen is more than just good looks; it needs to work well for your daily life. To make sure you end up with the kitchen of your dreams, it's really important to talk things through with your architect. Here's what you should focus on to make sure everything turns out just right.
1. HOW MANY COOKS WILL BE COOKING IN THE KITCHEN ?
· One cook.
· Two Cooks.
· One Cook, with helper.
2. WHAT KIND OF MEALS WILL BE PREPARED IN THE KITCHEN ?
· mughlai ? that would need a tandoor.
· Baking ? That would need a great oven.
· Indian Cooking, Lots of pots and pans.
3. WHAT IS THE FREQUENCY OF MEALS PREPARED ?
· Which meals are prepared at home: breakfast, lunch, dinner, other?
4. WOULD THE KITCHEN NEED TO HAVE ATTACHED DINING ?
5. WHAT ARE THE MEAL PREFERENCES OF THE PEOPLE WHO EAT IN THE KITCHEN ?
· If a lot of non veg food is cooked, then a seperate deep freezer might be needed?
6. ARE ANY SPECIFIC APPLIANCES OR FIXTURES DESIRED OR HEAVILY USED BY HOMEOWNERS?
· Do the clients require specialized work areas within the kitchen, such as baking centers?
7. IS A WALK-IN PANTRY OR BUTLER’S PANTRY DESIRED?
· for a large family in a big house it would be pertinent to have a butler's pantry.
· for a smaller family and a smaller home a tall storage, undercounter storage, or wall storage will be more sensible.
8. IS CHILDPROOFING AN ISSUE?
9. DOES ANY MEMBER OF THE FAMILY USE A WHEELCHAIR OR WALKER? IF SO, IS HE OR SHE A COOK OR A HELPER?
10. DO THE HOMEOWNERS HAVE AN INTEREST IN DESIGNING THE KITCHEN FOR AGING IN PLACE?
11. WHAT IS THE BUDGET FOR THE PROJECT ?
· The budget defines what can be done and not be done in design.
